Summer Olympics is a Muddy, Rainy Success;
Galinski is Summer MVP, Todd Althardt is Olympian of the Year
Weather was the Olympians worst enemy this Olympic year. After causing havoc
during the Winter leg, Mother Nature showed no mercy as she opened up the skies a
few times during the Summer leg. Despite the downpours, the Olympians still continued
to compete for gold (most of the female Olympians said they had no problem playing in
the rain since they never pass up an opportunity to get wet).
Steve Galinski used his athletic ability and his damn good luck to win Summer MVP.
Steve finished with 4 golds (Softball, Shot Put, Heads or Tails, and Fantasy Baseball)
and 1 silver (Tug of War). Olympic co-founder Justin "GoGo" Gough recorded 6
medals, 3 gold and 3 bronze, which were the most medals captured at the 2007 GGPO
Summer Olympics.
Todd Althardt captured 3 golds in the Summer leg, which gave him 7 golds overall for
the 2007 Olympic year. This astonishing feat earned Mr. Althardt 2007 Olympian of the
Year. This honor means Todd gets to pick an event for next year. The events
currently in the lead for him to pick are: Frito Lay chip stacking, sleeping,
micro-brewing, or Tiger Woods golf. Justin Gough (9 medals) recorded the most
medals for the 2007 Olympic year. Jamie Gough and Tim Terrell (8 medals) were tied
for the 2nd most medals.
